It all started last weekend when my parents and baby brother came to visit from Utah. Their primary purpose was to come for Ryan's baptism- which has already been documented on this blog. But they stayed the week and here is some of what we did:
Saturday: I went for a run with my dad, then we planted my garden, and then the baptism.
Sunday: Not much.
Monday (4th of July): Started the day off with a 5k, then a few minutes at the ward breakfast. Saw Kung Fu Panda 2- (super cute by the way), chillaxed, then got a KILLER spot to watch the fireworks (I'm not going to reveal the spot, cause we're going again next year and I want it to be just as awesome).
Tuesday: Floated the Deschutes. So much fun!
Wednesday: Morning jog with my dad, then we headed over to the coast for some camping and beach therapy. The drive from Bend is way longer than I wanted it to be, but worth it once you get the feet into the salt water. Set up camp and hit the beach for a little bit.
Thursday: Started the day with a run along highway 101, and then... Beach day! We landed at Heceta light house- a beautiful little spot along the 101. Spent the day there exploring, laying in the sand, and even threw in a little hike to the lighthouse. After that, we headed back to camp and while the men (Carey and my dad) prepped dinner, I thought I'd try out sand-boarding on the dune. Not a great idea cause I ended up BREAKING MY FOOT!!! Spent the next hour in the e.r., then went back to the campsite, took some pain meds and went to sleep.
Friday: Relaxed in the morning (I couldn't walk, so I decided to sit and read all morning), broke camp then headed back to Bend. The rest my weekend was spent reading in bed. And my parents left this morning.
I really had a great week- aside from the little "broken foot mishap." I'm sure I'll let out the emotions about that on a later post. Some of you know I have been training for a marathon, which is now on hold.... again. I'm not going to get into that right now.

Oh sweetie! A broken foot! AUGH! I feel your pain - emotional pain! I had knee surgery (finally) in May (in the U.K.) after a year-plus of babying my knee. The day I wrenched it, I sat and bawled for a long time -- mostly because I knew my love for running and aerobics had come to a screeching halt. At least your detour is just that - a temporary sidetrack - you'll be back to running! but OH! I sympathize!!!! On the bright side -- your week sounds PERFECT as far as fun and family go. We miss you guys and hope you'll visit soon, now that we're home!!!!
